FAQ
Questions parents ask us
Everything parents usually want to know before choosing a nursery school. Can't see your question? Message us on WhatsApp.
What ages do you take?
We take children from about 1 year old up to Grade 3. Baby class is for about 1 to 3 years, ECD A for 3 to 4, ECD B for 4 to 5, and our junior school runs Grade 1 to Grade 3.
What are your school hours?
We are open Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm, and the school is open throughout the year. We are closed on weekends and public holidays.
Are you a nursery school, a preschool or a crèche?
All three, in the way Harare parents use the words, and a junior school too. Nirmeen is a nursery and early childhood development (ECD) school, a preschool and daycare for children from about 1 to 5, and our junior school continues to Grade 3.
Can my child stay at Nirmeen after ECD B?
Yes. Children move from ECD B straight into Grade 1 with us and can stay until the end of Grade 3, with teachers and friends they already know.
Do children do swimming, music and sport?
Yes. Swimming, Music, Sports and computers are part of school life at Nirmeen, alongside the ECD curriculum.
How do I enrol my child?
Just get in touch: call or WhatsApp us on 078 798 2050 and we'll talk you through places for your child's class and the next steps.
Can we visit before enrolling?
Yes, please do. Book a visit on WhatsApp or with the form on our visit page. Bring your child so they can play while you look around and meet the teachers.
What is the difference between ECD A and ECD B?
In Zimbabwe, ECD A (3 to 4 years) is the first of the two Early Childhood Development years and ECD B (4 to 5 years) is the year before Grade 1. Our parent guide explains both in detail.
Where exactly are you in Belvedere?
We are at 72 Eastcourt Rd, Belvedere, Harare. Coming from town, take the first right turn after the Marimba shops robots. Families also come to us from Milton Park, Avondale, Ardbennie, Southerton and the city centre.
How many children are there per teacher?
Our student to teacher ratio is 1:15, so every child gets real attention through the day.
How do you keep children safe?
Safety comes first: a certified nurse is on standby, the gate stays closed during school hours and children go home only with adults on their pickup list. Our about page has the details.
Next, compare Baby class, ECD A and ECD B, see how to enrol, or book a visit to the school.
